The toddlers love motor activites!

We had a busy day on Friday, the toddlers got to experience painting with jelly and painting with water colors. Overall water color painting was still voted their favorite activity!

Love is in the air!

I love my toddlers, we had some good photo's of each one, but these were my favorite pictures by far. Glad I got my ink today for my printer in the mail. I love playing around with my software program. And printing new and fun pictures for all the kiddo's! Hope you enjoy!

Sensory Play=Messy Play!

I love Sensory, It's been awhile since I've done very messy ones. I know the other teachers don't like doing sensory with their kids, but I find that it is the best playing time.

I got a little carried away at the Dollar Store, I went in for ice cube trays and came out with a whole lotta stuff. Everything cost me under $5 so all in all it was a good buy!

The Toddlers loved it, We at least played with it for a 30 minutes, and it took almost that much time to clean it up, I forgot the tinsel sticks to everything. And we have a couple of dumpers in the group.

Baby Bears February Newsletter and this week's lesson plan

Baby Bears
February, 2014

Dear Families,
February has arrived, and the weather reminds us that winter is not over yet! Our themes for this month include Red, Hearts, Senses, Lions, and Green. Our Valentine’s Day party will be held on Friday, February 14th. We will have a pajama day as well.  Becky will be providing a fun finger food for our morning snack. We will also have a sign-up sheet posted on our door.
We will be busy this month! We will be learning about the color red. We will learn about hearts, and we will make several art projects involving hearts.  We will use glue to make pictures with different sizes of hearts, and even explore mixing red and white paints to create different shades of pink. With these paints, we will be making valentine cards for those we love.
We will be learning about our 5 senses this month. Our activities will include tasting something sweet and sour, touching items in our magic box, and smelling our smelly scented play-dough.  To work on our sense of sight we will blow bubbles, and for hearing, we will listen to the noise we make while jumping on bubble wrap.  We will also have a sensory box which we will bring out every afternoon to play with; everything in the box will be the color red.
I want to take a moment to congratulate all of our 2 year olds on drinking out of open cups at mealtimes. Sippy cups are still provided for the younger ones. We are very proud of all our two’s for drinking like such big kids!  At mealtimes, the older toddlers sit together, and the younger ones sit together. We will begin using our baby signs again, along with words for the older toddlers. Some signs we will be using are “milk”, “more”, “please”, and “thank you.” We will also include the signs on our bulletin board outside our classroom. We are learning how to  put our dishes away after mealtime in the dishwasher bucket located by the kitchen. The older toddlers are showing our younger ones how it’s done! Good job, everyone!
Some books we will be reading this month include: Clifford’s Valentines, Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse, Jesus Loves Me, and Clean up Time! Some fun music and movement this month will include songs like Shake Your Sillies Out and Move to It! We will also introduce If You’re Happy and You Know It, Clap Your Hands and Sticky, Sticky Bubblegum.
Love,

Miss Becky

Calming Friday!

It was a much better day on Friday, even though we still had 12 toddlers. On Fridays Miss Barb the 2 year old teacher is not there so her room is empty. I sent over 6 of the 8 2 year old's to go play in that room. So we could do some smaller activities with the younger ones.

We decided to finger paint with Lotion. That way we could keep an eye on them if they decided to try and taste it. They didn't even try, instead the painted their bellies, and arms. They love it!

During the end of the night, when I'm trying to clean up the room and wash toys. I put my nightly crew either on something at the table or with another interactive toy. Usually they get a snack if they aren't good eaters at our afternoon snack but since they all had seconds that day. I decided we would scribble with crayons and have a drink.

As you can see, Matthew is the only one currently that uses markers independently. I tried with the others they went straight into the mouth's or they try and color all over themselves.
