Big Kid Fun!

Yesterday we dressed up in costumes, we worked on putting on the costumes and trying to take them off. Some of our two year olds were getting very frustrated and started whining instead of using their words this is something we are working on and will continue when they move up to the two year old classroom as well.

In the afternoon we worked on our fine motor by peeling stickers off and putting them on our papers. They worked very well on this activity and most of them were capable of doing it themselves.

Today we had a pajama party and got to cuddle with our blankets and stuffed animals all day! We started the morning off by introducing glow stickers, only half of the class were interested in playing with them. We even had new toddler friend transition to our room today so it was fun playing with her and trying to show her just what we can do in our room!

This afternoon we watched Baby Einstein, Old MacDonald's Farm and have a picnic snack on the floor which consisted of cold water bottles and puff corn.

This is why toddlers aren't' quite old enough for the movie theaters...

Fun in the Sun!

We had fun playing outside this afternoon as soon as we came outside it started sprinkling but finally cleared up and we had a blast playing around with the hose and running in the sprinkler.

We are having fun creating ice cream cones and serving them to one another with this fun sensory activity.

Can you tell we've gone on a few picnics...

Don't forget but I'll post if on our door too, Friday is Pajama day. We will have a picnic snack and watch a short movie and celebrate with glow sticks later in the day.

Double the fun birthdays!

Today we celebrated Brooks and Brody's birthday. They turned 2 whoo hoo! Miss Beth and everyone in the center sang happy birthday to the boys during bible time. It's funny how shy they get in front of large crowds.

Since these boys share the same day I decided to split up their birthday parties. We had Brody's in the morning and Brooks party this afternoon. Brody sister got to enjoy celebrating with us for snack time. Thanks for bringing in the fruit pizza, it was a yummy morning snack!

After snack time we opened the first round of presents. I normally buy gifts under a theme since Brody is our little chef during playtime he got the food themed gifts. They were a hit with everyone as we played with his new toys and had Brody serve us some meals.

They were worn out so naptime was quickly after lunch, some of them could barely stay awake during lunch time I was hoping they would all take good naps for our busy afternoon I had planned but that didn't really happen and they woke up 30 minutes earlier.

Brooks brought in dinosaur cookies for his birthday treats, the toddlers loved them and they talked about them all through snack even fought over saying the name dinosaur. They were delicious and we enjoyed a cup of milk to go with it! Another clip of birthday fun!

Watching my toddlers open up their presents is always so fun to watch and it's amazing how they can rip into the paper like they've been doing it all week. It was fun to see how excited they get when they found out there was something beneath the paper. Brooks received zoo animals and a book along with his froggy stuffed animal. It was such a popular toy Brooks had a hard time reaching into the bucket before his friends did.

It's not everyday we watch short clips on the tablet, especially watching and listening to birthday songs on it. They were memorized by the singing minion.

Painting with Marbles

This morning the kona snowcone truck came and visited us, I let the little llamas pick out what color they wanted and we had fun eating them in the grass. Afterwards we washed off with the water hose.

Painting is fun, but marble painting is a blast! This action-packed way to paint is perfect for toddlers who will love watching the marbles roll across the paper leaving colorful trails. And it's especially perfect for sensory kids who hate to get their fingers dirty. All you need is paper, paint and a couple of marbles to get rollin'.

Toddlers & Painting for Fine Motor Development

Fine motor skills are those that allow your toddler to color with crayons and otherwise use their hands in their day-to-day existence. Developing fine motor skills is essential during the toddler years because it helps your child build the skill set he'll need to be successful in school. Painting is an entertaining activity for most toddlers, and while your child is busy creating a masterpiece, they're also building their fine motor skills.

Painting is an effective way to build fine motor skills because it requires your toddler to use a pincer grasp to hold the paintbrush. It also encourages them to move their hands, wrist and arm to create an image on the paper. Dipping the paintbrush into the paint also increases fine motor skills. In fact, giving your child a piece of paper, paints and paintbrush is more effective than offering a coloring book and crayons because your child must use their muscles to create.

Fun Finger Painting!

This is one of my favorite painting activities to do with my toddlers. I positioned it on another wall so when the sunlight hits it, it will shine. It looks fun and I'm sure it feel great too. We love getting messy!

This afternoon we had fun taking out different colored squares of tissue paper and sticking it to the contact paper.

Getting ready to celebrate Brody and Brooks birthday this Friday, we had to take their birthday pictures!

Running in the new Sprinkler!

I purchased a new sprinkler on Amazon for ten bucks, I'm a little addicted to Amazon if you can't tell by now. Free shipping and some really great deals that I simply can't pass up while working with toddlers. We tested the new fire hydrant sprinkler out and it's pretty powerful for being so small.

As for our other toddlers that prefer more of the quieter activities, collecting rocks and sitting in the pool is fine too.

Something about playing with the hose is just too much fun that they can't seem to stay away...
