Winter Inside Activities

I feel as though I haven't taken my toddlers out in a couple of weeks because of the cold. I left early today because we were over staffed on teachers so I used this day to go home and work on my January themes and lesson plan and pin a lot of things to pinterest instead of cleaning my apartment. Ah the procrastination in me is terrible!

Here is some fun activities that the toddlers will get to do this month:

The game that works on eye and hand coordination so simple just Velcro dots and a glove

Bringing the snow inside and painting with it.

Working on our pinching fine motor skills by putting cotton balls into creamer bottles to make snowmen.

exploring textures with paint

Happy Birthday Taryn!

I can hardly believe we have another 2 year old in our room now, my toddlers are growing up fast!

Miss Nancy sung Happy Birthday to Taryn at Bible today I think the blank stare is priceless...

She was much more energetic in the classroom, Taryn ran all the way back to the classroom and stood up on her climber so we could sing it one more time.

What's even better than the birthday song that's right presents!!!

Brown Bear What Do You See is one of our favorites. So when I found the slide and find one they all wanted a turn luckily I bought a copy on Amazon for our classroom!

This afternoon we celebrated with Minnie Mouse cupcakes, they were the cutest I almost didn't want to eat it but boy did the toddlers love them. Miss Sue had to take them to the bathroom to wash their hands and faces afterwards.

I let Taryn pick out our art activity she said paint, we practiced holding onto our paint brushes and painting with water colors.

Our Family Christmas

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! It was my sisters first year away from home so it was a little sad, but thankfully we had our Christmas Eve on Wednesday this year so we could spend time with her and Mike before they left for his family Christmas.  It was nice celebrating Christmas Eve going to church so it worked out perfect!

Frankie's 2nd Birthday!

The highlight of it being your birthday during the week is Miss Beth lets you come up during bible and we all sing Happy Birthday. (Commentary voice of a three year old during the video)

It seems like our favorite activity right now is stickers, not just any stickers but the cheap bubble stickers you find at the Dollar Store. Great fine motor activity as well. Even our youngest toddlers had fun exploring them!

Not sure if it was all the sticker fun or what, but these three we caught snoozing just before lunch. I guess getting their extra power nap in for our afternoon fun!

Getting messy with finger paints!!!

If you haven't received your Christmas ornament yet come see me! I had so much fun making these fun little keepsakes.

Today we got messy with finger paints, I really don't know why I thought they wouldn't get that messy, but they were almost all covered in paint that four of them had to have a bath in the sink...

Unwrapping Fun!

Note, I'm sorry if your toddler has unwrapped any of the Christmas gifts under the tree. I realized now that I shouldn't have done this so close to Christmas so we will do this at our Christmas party this Friday except they will be getting a gift from me.

Unwrapping presents also develops great fine motor skills, so encourage your child to rip the paper they loved finding the treasures wrapped underneath the foil.

Peppermint Fun!

We have been having fun exploring different Christmas activities this week. Yesterday I melted candy canes in hot water and then we played with the peppermint water in the afternoon when it cooled down. They kept trying to drink the water as I'm sure it tasted quite good!

We sat the toddlers down this morning and we let them taste the candy canes, we showed them how to lick them, as soon as they started biting into them we took them away. I was amazed that they liked the taste!

Our Christmas Program!

Well overall the Little Llama's did very well during their Christmas program, and I am very pleased no one cried and they all sat very still during their performance. I was a little worried a couple minutes before we went on we were not a happy bunch.

One a happy note, the twos and toddlers had a pretty good time destroying the nursery it took three teachers to clean it up afterwards.

Overall they looked so cute and we can laugh now at the moments we had with them prior to the night. I will print out copies next week when I get some more color ink.

Lets not forget the toddlers favorite activity, eating snack! We made ham sandwiches, cheese and crackers and raisins to tide them over while we waited for parents.

Santa's Little Helpers!

Apparently these two just thought the photo session was too tiring afterwards...

And you know that you take way too many pictures with your toddlers, when afterwards you catch them imitating you.

In the afternoon we practiced grasping onto clothes pins using pom-poms and we had fun painting with red and green paint.

This is one of their favorite activities right now building with Lego blocks. I even switched out for Christmas colors.
