Learning the color "purple"

Just a heads up, I will be out of town on Friday we are traveling to Wisconsin. My little cousin is getting married. Wish us luck as it will be a long car ride with six people in a mini van!

Friday Fun!

So we just scratched the lesson plan today because of the nice weather I was thinking as we were having fun running around this morning outside, wouldn't it be fun to do a water play. So that's what we did right after nap. We even had a picnic outside eating our afternoon snack because I had just scrubbed the tables and floor from lunch. Mmm, pumpkin smoothies and saltine crackers. 

I brought our baby dolls back outside with us, sponges and many buckets and cups. Because pouring is a great skill to work on!

Celebrating two birthdays today!

It's not every day you have two 2 year old's turning 2 on the same day. Today we celebrated Max and Sophia's birthday. This post is mainly about our two year old's, because turning 2 is a big deal!

The best part about celebrating your birthday at school is after bible time you get to stand on a chair in front of a large group of kids and they all sing happy birthday to you! It's a big deal!

After bible time we came back and had our morning snack that consisted of trail mix and mini ice cream bars.

Clean up time was sure fun, I never would've guessed they just liked the sandwich cookie part and decided to finger paint the table with their ice cream. I think their intention was they wanted me to put more soapy bubbles in our bucket for hand washing afterwards as the scream with laughter!

We kept the two year old's inside and let the younger toddlers go outside and play while we did a morning group time and present opening with Max and Sophia. 

We've been taking turns letting the toddlers go over to the big playground next door. They need to use their gross motor skills and have outgrown our playground. They do really well climbing with assistance near by. I'm like a hawk watching their every move, but they do really well and they are all so proud of their accomplishments that they are able to do. This afternoon I just took our two year old's over to play!

Just like Mommy!!!

This afternoon we gave our babies a bath with soapy water, sponges and towels. We worked on learning what body parts to wash while we gave the babies a bath. 

I think someday these boys will be great Daddy's!!!

After their baths we dried them off, and taught our babies to sit in their chairs, some of babies got lectured and were told "no, no sit"

May Newsletter

Dear Families,

April showers bring May flowers…we are hoping that the warm weather has arrived, and is here to stay! Hopefully over the next month we can enjoy the spring weather. We will be playing outside more, going for walks, watching for bugs and birds, watching outside our classroom window, and admiring all that is going on around us. We will celebrate two birthdays this month, Happy Birthday to Max and Sophia, who will both be 2! We will celebrate with birthday treats and presents!

As the weather begins to get warmer, we are asking you to go through your child’s bin to make sure that the clothes inside it are weather appropriate, and still fit. We are also asking for you to bring in a bottle of labeled sunscreen. We will be applying this when we are outside.  During the month of May, we will honor our Mothers by talking about how special our mommies are! We will be reading some wonderful stories and making special crafts for our mommies. This month we will be painting with water color paints, sponge painting with paint, and making some more hand and footprint crafts. Our themes for this month will include: Just like Mommy, The Color Purple, Farm Animals, and Construction.

We have been dividing our 2 year olds and the younger toddlers into two groups during the day for a small group time. With our 2 year olds, we work on sitting together. We sing a couple songs including: Days of the week, ABC’s, introducing colors, and counting to ten with our fingers.  With our younger toddlers, we will sing a couple of songs, and do language flash cards, working on saying the names of the objects on the cards, and having them tell us what it is. We are still working on sitting, but this is a skill they will develop as they get older. In the afternoons we read many books, and we get out different story books for the older ones that can listen to more than five pages in a book.
