Exploring their first snow experience...

We were surprised the snow stuck outside today.  If you notice your child not wearing his or her mittens or hats please understand that it takes us twice as long to get dressed with little ones pulling off their already put on clothing. We just want to go out and play while we still have the time, and we want them to be warm when they do. But I still can't stress enough, label everything that you bring into the center. Just a reminder please bring extra clothing and socks to store in your child's cubby.

Today we painted with choo choo trains, of course we had to make the sound as well. Ask your toddler what the train says!

Do A Dot Art

I love doing this activity with the toddlers
because they grasp on to the bottles and love to dot their papers. They have even started saying, dot, dot during this activity. Sorry some of them went home with their hands all in fun colors, I hadn't gotten all of their fingers washed off during our pickups, but know that they had fun doing their art today!

Parmesan-Roasted Acorn Squash

This is definitely the season to go into "squash overload" mode, as I always do.  There are just so many ways to cook squash...just make sure you try this one.

Parmesan-Roasted Acorn Squash
Serves Four

1 2-pound acorn squash-halved, seeded & sliced 3/4" thick
2 Tablespoons olive oil
8 sprigs fresh thyme
Kosher salt and black pepper
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Heat oven to 400 Degrees. On a rimmed baking sheet, toss the squash with the oil, thyme, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Sprinkle with the Parmesan.

Roast the squash until golden brown and tender, 20-30 minutes. Will depend on your oven.

This afternoon while I was cleaning the room , I setup water painting, a clean fun activity. Some of them got a little wet during the process, but loved playing in the water today! Just a heads up tomorrow, I will have my scheduled day off tomorrow, so I think Miss Molly, or Miss Deb will be in the room. I'll be spending the day with my Grandma!

Using our fingers..

Today we finger painted with blue paint. Finger painting is essential for toddlers to explore different textures. It's always fun watching them explore the paint.

This week we will really hit hard using our manners, especially meal time signs as some of the baby bears are getting lazy. It's also important to work on these signs because it will build their vocabulary and they will start picking up the words as well.

-For our vocal toddlers we are working on the words: Excuse me, No Thank-you, and Please help and Thank-you.

I took out our Halloween books and replaced them with some manner books. We also have some Thanksgiving books as well.

This week we will be working on trying to figure out our puzzles. I was pleasantly surprised some of them got it within the first couple of try's. We have some problem solvers in this group. The sounds ones are fun too!

Our Halloween Party

We explored stickers on Friday, after we got the concept of how the stickers stick to our papers. I decided we should decorate our pumpkin.

We had quite the busy day on Friday. They always look so cute in their costumes but it is a lot of work getting them dressed, then undressed then someone always needs a diaper change during the process. Lets just say I slept really good on Friday night.

While the two year old's were enjoying their sugary treats, my kids were more distracted from eating their snack that they mostly watched the two's eat in their costumes. For my toddlers, I brought in organic chocolate milk, frosted cookies and peach applesauce. They weren't quite interested in the food, but the chocolate milk was the big hit!

In the afternoon the two's hung out in our classroom for some candid pictures! It felt like a zoo, but we all a lot of fun!
