Baby Bears

April, 2015

Dear Families,

April is the month when we will celebrate the Week of the Young Child, April 13th - April 17th. The Week of the Young Child recognizes the needs of young children, and thanks educators and others involved in building better futures for all children. Our center will be having a basket auction of April 17th. Each class will create a themed basket, which you will be able to bid on at our Week of the Young Child dance on April 17th. The theme for our class basket will be “Art Supplies!” We ask that each family make a donation to the basket. If you need ideas, ask Miss Becky!

We will celebrate two birthdays this month. Miss Becky’s birthday is on Tuesday, April 8t. I will be bringing in ice cream to celebrate with the toddlers. Teagan will be 2 this month!  Her birthday is on April 16th. We will celebrate with special treats and presents. I will be gone from Friday April 17th through Tuesday, April 22nd.  My dad is running the Boston Marathon, and I’m going along to cheer him on! Our themes for this month will be Flowers, Bugs, Yellow, and Farm Animals.

To develop our toddler’s language and communication skills, we play music throughout the day. We play everything from sing along tunes to classical music .We will be doing some new finger plays this month that include: “Old McDonald Has a Farm,” “I’m bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee” and “Five Little Ducks.” Look for these handouts in your child’s folder. Some new books we will be reading our “A Very Hungry Caterpillar”, “A Tiny Seed” and “Animals on the Farm.”

We will also be having conferences to discuss the the progress of your toddlers after 6 months in our classroom. You will be getting an assessment sheet that we can go over as well. Some fun activities that the toddlers will get to enjoy this month will be: exploring worms and dirt in the sensory table, tissue paper art, scribbling with chalk and chasing bubbles outside. And let’s not forget many cute hand and footprint crafts!

Love, Miss Becky
