Our first water play of this year!

Today, the Baby Bears stood so nicely while I painted their arms and hands to make our Giraffe handprints, I was very impressed with them. They didn't turn out quite like I wanted them too but netherless they are cute!

I bought a package of swim diapers last night at the store I was hoping that the size I bought would fit all of them, thankfully it did some were a little snug though. Loved the weather today and was so thrilled that they got to play in the water.

I put baby food jars with lids in the sensory tables. We also took drinks and turns playing with the hose.

The boys transitioned to Miss Beth's room today, go figure they found a special spot they liked the best the "Cozy Corner"

few reminders!

Miss Abbie will be out this week visiting a friend in Las Vegas. She will be returning on tuesday June 2nd. She said she will miss the baby bears very much as I will too!!!

Who knows what the weather is thinking of doing this week, I hear some possible rain but high in the 80's we might have a water play day outside in the afternoon this week please stock your child's cubby with swim diapers.

On my bulletin board outside the classroom I have a sign of donated items I am in need for next month. If you could donate some of those available items I'd be so grateful, were also always in need of a box of wipes for our art project. Thanks again!

Friday Fun!

We made some new changes to our room! Be sure to check out the bulletin board!

This morning we took the toddlers out to the big playground since they were following directions so well. We pushed them on the swings, let them climb up on the little playground with Miss Abbie while I guarded every inch to make sure they got down the slide safety and got to ride on a few rocking toys. I wish we had more climbing and swings on our playground but we will just make note each week to go do these fun activities with them instead.

With our older toddlers we are working on sitting on the potty and reading some potty books. Today we took off their diapers and told them to go throw them away in the garbage then made them bring us a new clean diaper. We are working on learning to pull down our pants for potty time. This is something that the 2 year old classroom works on during potty training.

Playtime!

We often don't like to give too many sweets to our toddlers, but when Miss Abbie came back from Tropical Cafe with a large green smoothie we just had to have some of our toddlers try a sample. This type of smoothie was the green apple spinach one. I'm quite surprised of how much they enjoyed drinking out of their little cups.

This morning I had a parent drop off a bag of baby food jars she had been saving for me to do an art project with. I'm still in need of another sack of them. Today we used them to fill, dump and scoop up pom poms and torn pieces of paper. They were all content that they each had a jar and kept quite busy for the first half of the morning.

We love to paint!!!

Yesterday we finger painted with washable paints, as you can see from the photos they enjoyed it. They were super messy but they had fun squishing the paint in between their fingers and we had fun watching them explore it.

Today we painted using our paint brushes, with the younger toddlers we worked on grasping the paint brush and making marks on our papers. Our older toddlers love to paint all by themselves and think they can handle the bowls of paint.

Lets Go Outside and Play!

We love playing in the dirt and woodchips outside !!! It promotes physical, cognitive, and social development. The Toddlers use their large muscles to dig, pour, sift, and scoop up the dirt.  They also develop hand-eye coordination when exploring these activities.

This week we are learning about the color Purple! We will practice saying the word and doing many activities involving purple type things.

This afternoon we were busy ripping up purple paper. I got a few looks like, "really, it's ok if I rip it and you won't be mad at me". They did really good, and in the end I threw up all the purple paper into the air and we watched it float down to the ground. Tomorrow we will get to glue it down to our papers.

Outdoor play is important for children every day!  It not only provides more exercise opportunities, it also enhances and expands the their environment for learning!

Ways You Know You're a Toddler Teacher

I would just like to say it's pretty neat to have one week dedicated to teachers let alone childcare teachers. I love my job as a Toddler Teacher, I love those kiddos as if they were my own! And Thanks for all the special gifts you are all so thoughtful! :)

Ways you Know You're a Toddler Teacher...

1. You print more pictures of the young children in your class than your own family.

2. You wonder how pacifiers, crayons, and Legos end up in your laundry every week.

3. You deserve a Nobel Peace Prize for the arguments you’ve mediated and tantrums you’ve redirected.

4. You can find 20 ways to use empty yogurt containers as learning materials.

5. You wash your hands at least 30 times a day.

6. You recite from Goodnight Moon! and Llama Llama when conversation lags at a dinner party.

7. You sing random kids songs to yourself while in the shower.

8. You explain to parents in the park how much their kids are learning when they dig in the dirt.

9. You can count a group of toddlers in 5 seconds.

10. You know that even though your paycheck does not reflect the work that you do, you go to bed at night knowing that you are shaping the world and wake up every morning with your superhero cape.

It's Picture Day!

Today was our Spring picture day, I would just like to say usually my toddlers will smile and are happy go lucky around other people but today they were having nothing to do with the photographers. These were just some of the looks that Miss Abbie and I received this morning.

So before I decided I was going to take their pictures with their artwork we did the next best thing to do, we let them have donuts and milk for their afternoon snack. You can imagine they were quite happy about that!

The best thing I can say is that when the photographers were here, we did take a group picture all together with no one crying. So that was a huge plus considering a few took good individual shots. I'm happy to say that they all took good pictures for me.

Happy Mother's Day!!!
