I always keep forgetting to add the monthly newsletter and my lesson plan to this blog. So here it is:
Baby Bears
June, 2014
Dear Families,
June is here already, and we have a very busy month ahead of
us! Happy Father's Day to all of you wonderful dads! We will be busy making you
some gifts! Please welcome Miss Beth, who has joined our room. Her hours are 7:30
a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The kids just adore her! I will be gone June 18th
through June 25th, my little sister is getting married. Miss Beth
will be taking over while I am away. Just a reminder, please bring a sunhat for
your little one, as it is quite sunny outside. Please welcome 2 new toddlers,
Kai and Madison, to our classroom!
We plan to have water play on Wednesdays. Please provide
him/her with a pair of water shoes or other non-slip shoes to wear that can
safely get wet and muddy. We sometimes do sprinkler play, but they get very
dirty even just splashing and pouring at the water table. Our themes for this
month include, Father’s Day, Transportation, Sports, Camping.
This month we will be painting with edible paints. We will
get to explore blue and red pudding paint to make purple. We will also explore
sticky things this month, including jelly. We have lots of animal stickers to
explore. We will be focusing on scribbling with markers, crayons and colored
pencils. We will work on grasping them
and trying to make marks on paper. Of course we have scheduled lots of cute
hand and footprint crafts for our families!
We will be working on our fine and gross motor skills this
month. When it comes to using gross
motor skills — things like walking, jumping, and running — your little baby
bear probably doesn't need much encouragement. But it's equally important that
kids work on their fine motor skills — small, precise thumb, finger, hand, and
wrist movements — because they support a host of other vital physical and
mental skills. We will be “filling up and dumping”, “dressing and undressing”,
“scribbling”, “stacking and sorting” and “poking and pinching”.
I’d like to take a moment and talk with you about how we
have Circle Time with our toddlers. It isn’t always the easiest time of
day. Toddlers are busy, so we use it to
transition to the next activity. Miss Beth is introducing us to some new songs
that the toddlers really seem to enjoy. We currently begin by singing our
welcome song using your child’s name, followed by the ABC’s, and other movement
songs.
Stay Cool!
Miss Becky
