Fall Sensory Bin and Learning Activities

I love making themed sensory tubs for my toddlers, its a great way to explore everything, I received a ten dollar gift card to the Dollar Tree so I went and got the materials. Thanks again for the donation, the toddlers will have such a fun learning experience!

  • Fake fall leaves from the Dollar Tree
  • Large pine cones
  • Apple-shapes that you can take apart
  • Measuring cups and small buckets
  • Acorns in small plastic containers glued tightly.
  • Different colored large pom poms
  • Shovels
Language Development:
  • Name objects in the bin for toddlers and ask them to locate the objects.  As they are able, ask toddlers to pick up an object and name it.
  • Name the colors of objects in the bin.
  • Play “I Spy” with the toddlers by describing an object using its physical description (color, shape, size, texture).
Counting:
  • Choose a kind of object. Find all of those items in the sensory bin. Count how many in all.
  • Choose two different kinds of objects. Find all of those items in the sensory bin.
Sorting: Sort objects from the bin by:
  • Color
  • Shape
  • Size
  • Texture
